Workshop, farm tour and clinic help members of Millarville Stockland 4-H Club prepare beef projects.

The Millarville Stockland 4-H Club started off with our November monthly meeting on Nov. 12. It was held at the Oilfields Hospital where we discussed the 4-H constitution and expectations for the year. We had a great turnout and discussed exciting upcoming events.

On Nov. 26, we held a beef marketing workshop at the Millarville Racetrack hall to talk about how to market our animals to buyers. We learned different ways how to get buyers interested, what information they like and need to know, and how they bid. All members who attended learned a lot.

We also opened an online clothing store so lots of lucky members have some new 4-H club swag in time for the holidays.

On Dec. 10, we had our third monthly meeting at MRAS hall where we talked about previous and upcoming activities. We also did a multi judging practice event on cooking knives and got our record books marked by beef leader Jeff Blatz. Whoever gets the best marked record book gets a gift card of their choosing.

On Dec. 12, many members participated in the district Christmas hamper wrapping and packing at Red Deer Lake Hall. The hampers were delivered to families in need across the Foothills region. It was very successful and lots of fun.

On Dec. 14, we had our annual 4-H Christmas party that was held at Laser City in Calgary. We had a lot of fun and thankfully many members showed up. We played two games, had pizza and treats and also had a secret Santa gift exchange where everyone was excited to reveal the gifts they had received.

We are looking forward to some exciting events in January. On Jan. 4, we will have our beef farm tour. This is where we go to all the beef members' houses and tell them about our beef project. There is always lots to see and learn.

On Jan. 17, we will have our first hands-on beef clinic. That is where we will bring our beef projects and work with them at the MRAS arena and start getting them trained for upcoming shows.

The Millarville Stockland 4-H Club wishes everyone a Happy New Year.
